II Corinthians 13:11-13
11Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. 12Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you. 13The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.
My final joy and whisper of faith that carries on with me long after VBS is done, the decorations are put up and everything is packed away, is the friendships I see blossom between the children of VBS. To see friendships built or strengthened between the children that week brings me such joy. Especially as these children see each other again in other ministries of First Pres, like at Christ’s Kids or Sunday mornings. I hear their laughter as they create inside jokes, songs and shared experiences. I remember the joy as they recount what happened within the science station or show with pride the art they created. In those moments, I give thanks to God that VBS is able to be a whisper of faith for them as well long after they leave us.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, as you promised your Holy Spirit to be with us, so may it dwell with those children who were able to join us for VBS. May it continue to guide them in their lives. May it continue to encourage their faith and reconnection with Christ today and always, Amen.
