TRUTH IN THE SPIRIT

1 Timothy 3:16

Without any doubt, the mystery of our religion is great:

He was revealed in flesh,

vindicated in spirit,

seen by angels,

proclaimed among Gentiles,

believed in throughout the world,

taken up in glory.

When Jesus walked this earth, there were many false stories and rumors that were told about him. Sometimes it is hard to read the text and see how many people were against him. It is painful to read about how hard he was trying by teaching a message of love only to be cast with false intentions. Sometimes we feel like that in our own lives as well. To be misunderstood is an incredibly painful feeling particularly by those that we hold dear. All of us at our core want to be accepted and valued. When that doesn’t happen, we are left with feelings of rejection and hurt.

In this letter to Timothy, we learn about the power of the Holy Spirit to vindicate. As Jesus was cast in judgment and crucified, it is through the power of the Spirit that we can see in truth and the world is able to see who he truly was and is in this world. Sometimes we cannot fix human opinions and thoughts held by others no matter how hard we try, but we can take comfort in the Spirit that God sees us for who we are. God made who we are, loves who we are, and sees us daily in our walk through this world. And, it is through the Spirit that we are held in truth and sustained in love.

Prayer

Dear God, we thank you the power of the Holy Spirit. While this world is filled with your children, it is also filled with humans that often get things wrong. Through the power of the Spirit, you give us a relationship that is honest, truthful and loving and we are forever grateful. In Your Name, Amen.
