There’s something attractive, almost addictive, about a good story. Stories engage. Stories entertain. Stories can instruct. And many of us have a favorite storyteller. It may be a relative, a friend, a celebrity, or someone in the faith.
Jesus was one of the great storytellers, and many of his stories touch on life situations while helping us make life decisions. Several dozen of Jesus’ stories fall into the category of “parables.” Think back to some of the stories that were shared with us in Sunday School:
The Prodigal Son
There once was man who had two sons
The Good Samaritan
A man was travelling to Jericho when he was attacked by robbers
The Lost Coin
A woman lost a valuable and swept and searched until she found it
Over the next weeks, we will be settling in for a story a day. Let’s listen to hear about ourselves in the telling.
Prayer
Dear God, help me to make a few moments to listen to stories that may make a difference in how I live each day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
