A LOWELL MASON HYMN FESTIVAL

You may not be familiar with the name of Lowell Mason, but you most likely have sung his melodies and hymns many times.  During the 19th century, Lowell Mason composed and arranged over 1,600 hymns; many of which we still sing today. Mason’s work includes the tunes for Nearer, My God to Thee, My Faith Looks Up to Thee, Blest be the Tie that Binds, and the arrangement of one of Handel’s most beloved melodies, Joy to the World.  Mason was also instrumental in bringing music education into the public schools.

Come hear his life story and work, and sing his songs on Sunday, September 28 at 2 pm in McLeod Hall.
