LIVING FOR GOD: EACH DAY, EVERY DAY

Romans 14:5-6

Some judge one day to be better than another, while others judge all days to be alike. Let all be fully convinced in their own minds. Those who observe the day, observe it for the Lord. Also those who eat, eat for the Lord, since they give thanks to God, while those who abstain, abstain for the Lord and give thanks to God.

One of the things our family picked up from Cedarkirk was spending our time around the dinner table doing what is called “Pows and Wows.”  Pows are those things in the days that were hard, challenging, or where life didn’t go the way you hoped.  Wows are the good things that happened to you and something to celebrate. Each person around the table spends some time reflecting on their day and sharing each of the ways that their day went. This is a great way to evaluate your day, get our family talking and sharing, and spend some time hearing about the life of the other.

One other question that is a great one to ask is “Where did you see God today?”  As Paul is telling the folks in Rome, this is probably the most important question that we should all ask every day. Each and every day we are to live for God. Days shouldn’t be judged as whether they were good or bad for us, but instead we should be focusing on living our lives for God. Each day, every day can be an act of worship of praising and thanking God for the many gifts by participating in this life we have been given. How can you live for God today?

Prayer

God, you have given us each life. You gave us life for us to delight in you and your world. Rather than living in judgment each day, we thank you for Paul’s reminder for us to be convinced in our minds of your boundless love and grace, each day, every day. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
