We are going to take a step back in time this week for our inspiring writer of the week with Julian of Norwich. Julian lived in the Middle Ages around 1343-1413 and was an anchoress which meant that she lived in a cell behind a church. She was given many visions throughout her lifetime and her theology continues to make an impact today although she never gained fame while she was alive. During the years in which she lived, there were many tragedies that happened including the Peasants Revolt and the ongoing plague of what was known as the Black Death. Not much further is known about her and even her name might be a pseudonym.
The greatest honor we can give Almighty God is to live gladly because of the knowledge of his love. ~Julian of Norwich
How do we show honor to God? When I end my day, I often sit with my thoughts about all the good things that happened throughout the day. It could be gratitude for food, support, kindness, or as simple as the door holding by a stranger. It could even be for the softness of my bed after a particularly challenging day. Gratitude is one of the most simple ways that we can honor what God has given us. Another way to honor God is by living in gladness as Julian reminds us. To be glad is to be delighted and pleased. It is not only being grateful but also allowing ourselves happiness and joy in our gifts. When we think of the good things that God has given us, we should be grateful but then also smile and bask in the knowledge of how much we are loved.
Prayer
God of gladness, we thank you for the many, many blessings in our lives. With gratitude we honor your abounding love in our lives. Allow us to delight in the beauty around us. For in our delight, we see, hear, and feel that overflowing ways that you love us. Amen.

I’m so grateful you are our Associate Pastor…thank you for heeding our call and all the challenges you overcome just to be with us. Thank you, Rev. Callie
