Matthew 20:29-34
What stories to include? The folks who sat down to create the Spark Story Bible for children shared a couple dozen stories of Jesus, out of the hundred or more that we find in the New Testament. One of the tales they retold is where Jesus heals two blind men:
Along the way two blind me were sitting by the side of the road The men cried, “Help us, Jesus!”
“You shouldn’t bother Jesus, Be quite!” the crowd told the men. But the men shouted even louder, “Help us, Jesus!”
Jesus stopped in front of the men and asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Jesus, we want to be able to see you, the birds, the trees, and even each other!” they said. Jesus’ heart filled with love and care. He touched their eyes. They could see! Jesus had healed them!
The editors of this children’s Bible included a story about Jesus helping people. Then they asked the readers to ponder these questions:
When do you feel like asking Jesus for help? How does Jesus help you?
Those are good questions.
Do we ask Jesus for help in our adult lives? Do we give thanks for answered prayers?
Prayer
God, let me pause today when I am troubled or worried, to ask Jesus to help me through. Amen.
