Friends, being a Christian is not about following a checklist. It’s not about making sure you come to church a certain number of Sundays, serve on a committee, put a certain amount of money in an offering plate. No, it’s none of that. It’s all about a relationship. It’s all about growing closer to God every single day of your life until you have the most amazing reward of meeting Him face to face for eternity.
I don’t think I would have written that 10 years ago when I worked here before because it’s taken me a long time to really learn it’s not just about knowledge of God, it’s about relationship. I still don’t have the relationship I want with Him but everyday I’m trying and I’m praying that He will draw me closer and closer into His arms.
Once again, there’s a song that immediately pops into my head called In the Secret by Chris Tomlin. The Chorus goes like this:
I want to know you
I want to hear your voice.
I want to know you more.
I want to touch you.
I want to see your face
I want to know you more
That’s exactly what I want friends and I pray that’s what you want as well. It may mean digging into your Bible more, or maybe going for a walk alone and soaking in God’s beautiful creation, or perhaps it’s joining a Bible study and understanding His amazing love for you better, or if you’re like me and watching the Chosen helped open your eyes and heart to God’s incredible love for us through His son Jesus Christ. It’s amazing what God can use to show you how much He loves you and you all are dearly loved.

Father God, I want to know You more Lord. Draw me closer to You. Help me Lord to know You more. Amen.
