HYMN 697: TAKE MY LIFE

This life-encompassing hymn asks the singer to consecrate or make holy all parts of one’s life and possessions as the Lord’s. From hands, heart to silver and gold, when one is asked to dedicate one’s life, one is to hold nothing back, an apt stewardship hymn. Just as the author, Frances Ridley Havergal, herself gifted all her jewelry to a mission society, in lifting one’s voice along with the final stanza, ‘ever, only, all for thee,’ the song lingers on long after the final note.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour at they feet its treasure store; take myself and I will be ever, only, all for thee, ever, only, all for thee.

Prayer

Steadfast, loving God, with such words of timeless dedication, we too offer our lips, feet, and days to be of messages of love, beautiful service, and praise, now and forever, Amen.
