This tune is another addition to our hymnbook from the Taize’ community. It is included in the THANKSGVING section of the Glory to God Presbyterian Hymnal. The editors reflect: “This refrain from the ecumenical monastic community in Taize’, France, is meant for repeated singing. A wonderful quilt of psalm-like phrases, it would be appropriate at any time ……”
The simple song of thanks says
In the Lord I’ll be ever thankful;
In the Lord I will rejoice!
Look to God; do not be afraid.
Lift up your voices; The Lord is near.
Lift up you voice, the Lord is near.
Prayer
Morning, noon, or night, dear Lord, I rejoice that you are near. Hear my voice as I lift my prayer of thanksgiving and praise. Amen.
