This song, as soon as I read the first line, is one that is familiar to me, as I sing these short, memorable lines. I remember sitting at sun rise at my church camp and joining voices with campers and counselors as we learned this song by heart. We would sing with abandon. We sing with our whole hearts, repeating these words till the song cards were no longer needed. What a beautiful song, drawing on the words of Psalm 123:3, allowing all ages to offer their gratitude to our Lord, Christ Jesus.
Give thanks with a grateful heart; give thanks to the Holy One; give thanks because we’ve given Jesus Christ, the Son.
Prayer
Holy One, we are so wondrously in awe of how you have continued to sustain us and rained upon grace us. In song, we can only begin to it to words. As these words become more than words, may they be song of our hearts as well. Amen.
