Hymn 341 in the Glory to God Hymnal, O God, Show Mercy to Us, is a paraphrase of Psalm 67. The hymnal editors claim that this psalm was recited in the Jewish faith every Sabbath as a reminder of God’s universal sovereignty.
Let all the peoples praise you; let all the nations sing.
Then earth in rich abundance to us its fruit will bring.
The Lord our God will bless us; our God will blessing send,
And all the earth will worship, to its remotest end.
It might be helpful, at least once a week, to look for and acknowledge how richly we are blessed. And as those being blessed, we might truly pause to worship and praise our God. Once a week might not be enough.
Prayer
As I ponder your blessings in my life, my Creator, let me loosen my tongue in praise. Thank you, God from whom all blessings flow. Amen.
