Wow, I have read this quote several times and I just keep reading it again. How many times do I go after something that I really want? I long for it, I dream about it, I plan my entire life around it. But then it doesn’t come to pass, it doesn’t work out the way I think it should. I get upset, frustrated, hurt, wondering why God isn’t answering my prayers. So many times, God has protected me from my wants and it’s not usually until much later in life that I whisper a simple thank you. I’m reminded of the Garth Brooks song – Unanswered Prayers.
Sometimes I thank God, for unanswered prayers. Remember when you’re talking to the man upstairs. Just because He doesn’t answer, doesn’t mean he don’t care. Some of God’s greatest gifts, are unanswered prayers.
But that’s the thing about God. He will protect us from our wants. He might say no, or He might say not yet. But no matter what His answer is, He’s leading us closer to Him. All He longs for is a closer relationship with us. Everyday, through every circumstance, He draws us closer to His heart. Take a deep breath friends and lean into God.

Loving God, thank you for always being there with us through every want in our life. Thank you for drawing us closer to You, no matter the answer or the outcome. We love you Lord and we thank you. Amen.
