GIVE THANKS WITH A GRATEFUL HEART

Being joyful isn’t what makes you grateful. Being grateful is what makes you joyful. ~Ann Voskamp

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. ~1 Thessalonians 5:18.

Let’s try an experiment today. Take a few minutes and write down 10 things you are grateful for. They can be ANYTHING. Your health, your family, chocolate ice cream, the fact that maybe rain fell on your yard yesterday, whatever it is, write it down. How do you feel? Did it bring a little extra joy into your life? When we approach our circumstances (no matter what they are) with a focus of gratitude, our perception changes.

I was googling giving thanks in all circumstances and here is what AI came up with:

Giving thanks in all circumstances means cultivating an attitude of gratitude that extends beyond positive situations and includes difficult or challenging ones. It’s about recognizing that even in hardships, there can be something to be thankful for, whether it’s a lesson learned, the presence of support, or simply the reminder of God’s faithfulness.

What are you grateful for today? How do our hearts feel when we focus more on what we have to be thankful for than what is troubling us? I pray then that your heart will feel that joy that comes only from the Lord.

Prayer

Thank you, thank you, thank you God. Help my heart to be full of gratitude each and every day. Let my list of things to be thankful for far outweigh the things that are troubling me. Thank you, Lord! Amen.
