Lowell Mason Hymn Festival

You may not be familiar with the name of Lowell Mason, but you most likely have sung his melodies and hymns many times.  During the 19^th century, Lowell Mason composed and arranged over 1,600 hymns; many of which we still sing today. Mason’s work includes the tunes for Nearer, My God to Thee, My Fatih Looks Up to Thee, Blest be the Tie that Binds, and the arrangement of one of Handel’s most beloved melodies, Joy to the World.  Mason was also instrumental in bringing music education into the public schools.  Come hear his life story and work, and sing his songs.
