CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL: ANT

Proverbs 6:6-11

6 Go to the ant, you lazybones;
consider its ways and be wise.
Without having any chief
or officer or ruler,
it prepares its food in summer
and gathers its sustenance in harvest.
How long will you lie there, O lazybones?
When will you rise from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest,
11 and poverty will come upon you like a robber,
and want, like an armed warrior

The Bible and nature contain life lessons for God’s creatures. (And we, the ones made in the image of God, can learn lessons from what we consider less significant creatures.) The writer of Provers tells us to consider the ant. Doing so will get us up and moving, That’s an important part of life.

Prayer

God, as I pause to study creation in praise to you, help me to also learn the lessons you have left for me in nature. I will get busy as summer approaches to make sure that the harvest will be bountiful. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
