John 14:25-27
“I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”
As I close this month’s devotions, I close with a challenge and reflection for all those of First Pres who have journeyed with me, from the blues of the Caribbean to the unique gifts of Vacation Bible School and the friends, young disciples, and family to you. Where in these summer days have you witnessed God? What was occurring in your daily faith journey that allowed you to hear God’s voice? How have you been able to reflect and see God’s presence once you have studied those photos on your own phone? Take a moment, flick through the last five or ten photos in your phone and choose one. With that selection, pause for a minute or two and offer up a prayer. Is there someone or something that needs to be lifted up, let us do it together.
Prayer
Gracious Lord, you have walked with each of us, assured as the words of Jesus’ lips remind us, we are never alone. As we focus on the images before us in our own lives, we offer up prayers for this person, place or moment we too have captured on camera. May your Holy Spirit uphold and sustain and be of useful need for them as well. In Christ’s holy name, we pray, Amen.
