Care Casseroles

I Corinthians 12:26-27

26If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it. 27Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

Every few months, members of our Congregational Care committee get together for a baking party. With love and care they prepare then freeze these comfort food essentials, casseroles. Then, as members and friends of First Presbyterian return home from a hospital visit or lingering illness, I am honored as one of the pastoral staff to deliver a casserole. This summer, it was to welcome home a newborn and visit with his family. A small touch of love and as the tag says, nourishment for your body and warmth for your heart, may it be so.

Prayer

God of steadfast love, we give you thanks for the many hands that prepared our comfort ministry casseroles. For the feet that deliver them. For the bodies and hearts of those who enjoy their comfort in times of need. Continue to be a source of such love, as these casseroles represent. In thanks for being able to be a member of the Body of Christ, we pray, Amen.
