Somewhere I remember someone saying that “purity of heart is to will one thing.” (Having written this, I looked it up, and that someone was the Christian theologian Soren Kierkegaard. Thanks for the thought.)
Another commentator mentioned that a pure heart is unalloyed (Thanks here to Dougals R.A. Hare.)
A pure heart seeks God and tries to purge the selfish and sinful stuff that often pollutes our hearts and souls.
It’s about emptying ourselves of that which distracts, so that we can be filled with God’s good presence.
Prayer
Let me reflect on Your goodness and grace, Dear God. Let me sit in Your presence and reflect on Your love. Purify my heart, so that I desire what You desire, and see your presence in the world and everyone I encounter. Amen.
