Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
I attended Jesuit High School in Tampa. Our mascot was the Tigers. Being a Christian school, we sometimes played with biblical images. One thing I remember from those days was a t-shirt that said —
If the meek shall inherit the earth,
What’s going to happen to all us Tigers?
Meek doesn’t mean weak. Meek may be more closely tied to the concept of humility. (And that has to do with considering others in all that we do.) Also in my high school days, I won third place in the junior/senior essay contest. The theme we were invited to write on was:
A Man for Others, Balancing Responsibility and Independence
Blessed/Happy are those who are meek and humble in their approach to others. They might just find life on this earth worth living.
Prayer
God, keep me humble and kind as I live my life on this earth, seeking the joy of your kingdom. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
