Behold

Behold the King has come
Divinity incarnate
Creator of the world
Breathing our air
Behold what light has come
And the dark cannot contain it
The Savior of the world
Is finally here

Oh, come, let us adore Him
Come, let us adore Him
For He alone is worthy
Christ the Lord

Behold, the Father’s love
Beyond all comprehension
He gave His only Son
To die in our place
Go and see that empty tomb
He’s not there, for He is risen
Every heart prepare Him room
Jesus Christ, the King of Heaven

Oh come, let us adore Him
Come, let us adore Him
For He alone is worthy
Christ the Lord

We give You all the glory
We give You all the glory
We give You all the glory
Christ the Lord
We give You all the glory (all the glory)
We give You all the glory
We give You all the glory
Christ the Lord

We praise Your name (we praise Your name forever)
We praise Your name (we praise Your name forever)
Jesus, we praise Your name forever
Christ the Lord

Oh, come, let us adore Him
Come, let us adore Him
For He alone is worthy
Christ the Lord (oh, come, let us adore)
Oh, come, let us adore Him (come let us, come let us adore)
Come, let us, come let us adore Him
For He alone is worthy
Christ the Lord
Christ the Lord
He is Christ the Lord

—Behold by Phil Wickham & Anne Wilson

Christmas is over, but we can still celebrate the greatest gift ever given, 365 days a year. I love this song because the lyrics say, “the Creator of our world, breathing our air.” Let’s pause right there for a minute. The imagery of that sentence pulls at my heart. God became human, arriving in this world as a tiny baby. Have you really stopped and thought about that, this Christmas season? Have you taken the time to ponder The King of the World coming as a tiny baby, so innocent and vulnerable in a dark, dusty, smelly, and maybe cold stable to be born for me and you? We still have time friends; we can ponder that in our hearts every single day. That’s the beauty of God’s love; it doesn’t end when Christmas is over.

The song then goes on bringing John 3:16 into the Christmas story. He gave His only Son to die in our place and the tomb is empty. It’s the Christmas story and the Easter story; all wrapped into a beautiful melody singing about worshiping Him and giving God all the glory.

The song ends with worshipping our Lord and Savior with verses from “O Come Let Us Adore Him.” It really is a Christmas/Easter song all about loving our Lord. May it bring joy to your heart this Christmas season and all throughout the year.

Prayer

Gracious Lord, help us to take time and pause, no matter the day about the greatest gift you have given us. From the baby in the manager, to dying on the cross, to the empty tomb. We are so loved. Thank you, Lord! Amen.
