32 “This Jesus God raised up, and of that all of us are witnesses. 33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you see and hear.
Welcome to one of the places in the Bible where the inter-connected nature of God the Father/God the Son/God the Holy Spirit is spelled out.
Jesus was “exalted at the right hand of God” and “received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit” which Jesus “poured out to them as they see and hear” on Pentecost Day.
Right?
I can’t really understand the Holy Spirit, if understanding means explaining it thoroughly, or being able to put the Spirit in some kind of box. But I can sense and experience the Spirit’s presence and persona.
In seminary I was told that our Eastern Orthodox sisters and brothers in Christ spoke of the “dance of the Trinity.” As they experienced our God, they recognized the Father of the Son, the Only Son of the Father, and the Spirit of the Father and the Son.
Come, Holy Spirit, into my life.
Prayer
Wonderful God, thank you for your overwhelming presence in my life. Claim me, fill me, use me, for your work in the world. Amen.
