PSALM 113: 1-4
1 Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord;
praise the name of the Lord.2 Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time on and forevermore.
3 From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.
4 The Lord is high above all nations
and his glory above the heavens.
Making a gratitude list is something that I have come to appreciate in my life. As we go through our days, it is often the little things that we take for granted and can become overwhelmed by the things of the world that are not working correctly. Rather than focusing on the negative and the stumbles and challenges, let’s focus on the simple and the small. Making time in our days to seek gratitude is a great way to praise our God from whom all blessings flow. Here are some examples:
- For my fingers that can hold my toothbrush and ways to care for myself
- For my eyes that can see the sun and the gift of life
- For the contacts in my cell phone reminding me of the people in my life
- For the feeling of fullness at the end of a meal knowing that I have enough to eat
- For the worn pages of my Bible knowing how the word has sustained my life
Prayer
God of so many blessings, thank you for gracing our lives with so many beautiful people, abilities and things. Thank you for the rising of the sun to its setting. Help us to remember to count our joys and remember the little things in life especially when life feels overwhelming. Amen.
