Psalm 111:7-10
The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy. 8 They are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness. 9 He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name. 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.
Long ago in a Seminary class around children and their spiritually I learned about the diverse ways children learn, or multiple intelligence theory. During Vacation Bible School, learning by spatial intelligence, or children who enjoy art in the craft time. Each day the children get to be creative with beads, or color or special addition, creating their photo frame of their picture to celebrate the week of VBS. With hands-on activities and support of volunteers their daily art projects can help the story come alive or remind them of the daily theme, ‘trust God.’ Through art children are reminded of their uniqueness as children of God and able to express it in something they are proud to bring home.
Prayer
Christ Jesus, we are grateful for the creative gifts of VBS leaders who share their love through crafts and allowing children to express their gifts in that time. May the creative arts they created that week remind them of the joy of VBS. May we all share our gifts in ministry as your disciples, Amen.
