Matthew 5:6
6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
I know about hunger and thirst. (Or at least those terms strike a chord with me.) When I’ve been out mowing the yard, especially this time of the year, I can’t wait to down a Gatorade (Zero) and a couple bottles of water. And after a long night’s sleep, I can’t wait to break-the-fast with my special sausage and cheese breakfast sandwich.
I love being physically satisfied when I am hungering and thirsting for food and water.
Jesus said that if we approach righteousness (behaving in a right manner before God and others) in the same manner – hungering and thirsting for what is right and pure and good, we will be filled.
Prayer
God, let me wake up each day, hungering to do what is right. And let me continue throughout my day to thirst for doing Your will. And let me be filled. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
