After a lifetime of singing Easter songs, and decades of picking the hymns to be sung on Easter, I still get a little confused between this song and Jesus Christ is Risen Today. These are two of the most popular Easter hymns, and often get rotated year to year in Easter worship.
But whichever we choose for our big day, the message is the same. (Almost like what happens in Easter preaching from the Easter Sunday story in Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John.)
Jesus Christ has been raised from the dead. Alleluia!
God’s love has been shown. Alleluia!
God has claimed victory. Alleluia!
To God be the praise and glory. Alleluia!
Prayer
Thank you, God, for giving us the greatest news of all. Through your powerful love we lkve now and forever. Amen.
